Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening cup on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times late to take a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
