Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
